The most effective way to communicate an idea or value to large groups of people is through the use of images, not language.

With rapid development of technology, it seems that people use more graphics than speech to communicate with each other. Graphics usually consist of several lines or circles and can contain lots of informations or ideas which speakers -- including executives, teachers or politicans -- wants to impress audience : workers, students or citizens. Therefore, images are considered as one of the most important tools instead of language, however, I thinks there is bebate over this issue and people should scrutinize it more deeply.
Language, one of the most pristine way to communicate with each other, is used by our ancestors thousands years ago; also, it is the indispensible way for a person to propagate what he or she likes to convey. Not only linguistic experts but also the publics admitted the significance of language. For example, if we go to a supermarker or convenience store to buy some foods, we use language to talk to those who are responsible for introducing merchandise; if a saleman needs to negotiate with other companies' representatives, he or she may exchange datas and contracts with each other by using language; if a candidate tries to presuade nationals, it is undoubted that language is the most effective tools to convince them by using several evidences to support his or her point of view. Admittedly, there are over 80 percent of communication in our daily life is using language, because language is not only the easiest but also the most direct and natural method. In addition, language sometimes is more effective than any other way for people to use. A picture may consist of no less than ten ideas and its hard for people to thoroughly figure out; however, language can complement this disadvantage.
On the other hand, there is no denying that images are widely used in miscellaneous field -- science, business, potitics, and so forth. In business, a staff can use powerpoint with plenty of to make a presentation. With adequate pie charts and several representative images, he or she can explain the whole operation of the industry without worrying about too complicated for managers to understand. Why graphics become so prevelant than usual? The advantage of images is that people can present more than one concepts or implications in one picture. If we decribe something instead of using images, the number of words or the time we need to spent on interpretation may be more considerable than we can imagine. Images look friendly, and people may live in a colorless life given that we just use language, not both language and images. There is an ambiguous boundary which lies in language and images; as a result, it is inappropriate to seperate them and use each of them independant.
In sum, when people need to use language and images depends on the circumstances. If being able to use both of them correctly, people can communicate with each other effectively.
