------题目------
The Trash-Site Safety Council has recently conducted a statewide study of possible harmful effects of garbage sites on the health of people living near the sites. A total of five sites and 300 people were examined. The study revealed, on average, only a small statistical correlation between the proximity of homes to garbage sites and the incidence of unexplained rashes among people living in these homes. Furthermore, although it is true that people living near the largest trash sites had a slightly higher incidence of the rashes, there was otherwise no correlation between the size of the garbage sites and people's health. Therefore, the council is pleased to announce that the current system of garbage sites does not pose a significant health hazard. We see no need to restrict the size of such sites in our state or to place any restrictions on the number of homes built near the sites.
------正文------
In this argument, the author asserted that it did not need to restrict the size of garbage sites by using several evidences-- the relationship between the size of garbage sites and people's health, a study about unexplained rashes among people. It seems plausible, however, there exists fallacies in the argument after my analysis.
In the first place, a study conducted by the Trash-Site Safety Council revealed that only small statistical correlation between the adjancency of homes to garbage sites and unexplained rashed among people. Small statistical correlation does not mean people should not blame unexplained disease for garbage sites; that is to say, the number of people with rashes may be small and experts in Trash-Site Safety Council may found out other factors-- such as air pollution, weather --having influence on unexplained symptom. Nevertheless, it is not appropriate to make a conclusion before intergrating all possible factors and investigating thoroughly, and we can not neglect the possibility which people come down with rashes as a result of living near to garbage site.
Moreover, the author fails to establish the relationship between people's health and the size of garbage sites. According to this argument, the author admitted that people living adjacent to gabarge sites has slight higher incidence of the rashes, not only creating controversy but also less reliablity: the siginificant point is that the author forgets to collect sufficient data support his/her point of view. Instead of persuading people why there is no correlation between the size of garbage sites and people's health with convincible data, a conclusion is made without any explanation. It seems unreasonable. Also, when the size of garbage sites becomes larger and larger, residents living near there may be easiler getting the rashes than usual on account of water pollution and other sanitation issues produced by people who carelessly manage the large garbage.
As a consequence, to make this argument more credible, the author must complement fallacies mentioned above and demonstrate them by using more effective evidences.
