By reading newspapaer and watching television, people can easily find miscellaneous useful things created in the world, such as airplanes, cars, computers, and so forth. Addmitedly, some person consider originality as thinking something that was never thought before; others think it as puuting old ideas together in new ways. In my opinion, originality is the combination of the two statements mentioned above instead of one of them.
In traddition, originality was view as innovation. Besides, many people had a misleaded concept -- developing or designing a architecture of something must be wholy new; otherwise, this creature must be simulated. Also, wrong ideas which education instilled in the past had an influence on students a lot. Therefore, innovation plays an important role in daily life several decades ago. Edison, a well-know inventers, developed electric bulb and enable many families reunion, doing whatever they want, eliminating fear of thieves stealing their property in the night. Wilbur Wright, dreaming to fly in the sky, manufactured the first plane in the world and reduced plenty of time acquried when going abroad. According to these outstanding celebrities, they demonstrated the true meaning of originality -- innovation.
On the other hand, establishing something new on the basis of precedent idea is undoubtedly included in originality. Because it is impossible for us to create everything based on our limited knowledge, our unmature mind and our non well-trained insight. Universities or colleges provides students a good environment to learn and study. Addimitedly, they put emphasis on cutivating specialists on a account that there are too many fields and a student can only major one interested subject instead of superficially or roughly learning all kinds of fields. Hence, merging and organizing old ideas is the right way for a citizen to modify them and producing his/her point of view by fully figuring out advantanges and disadvantages on his/her own.
Moreover, nowadays taking advantage of old ideas is a critical point for companies to have high percentage of market share. Accroding to some technnology magazines published serveral weeks before, watching television on the wall or any other places in the home is not a dream any more. Several famous electicial research-oriented companies in Japan had developed a special television which can be hanged on the wall, like pictures. Researches use serveral old ideas, revising them and producing a so-called "new product." In fact, this idea was already advocated before.
To sum, originality is not only thinking something that was never thought before, but also putting old ideas together. Only can people keep the importance of originality in mind, can a country become stronger and gaining leadership in the world.
